Foster + Partners has revealed these images of what it claims will be the first zero-carbon, zero-waste city

The Masdar development in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates is a car-free “walled city”. The development is being driven by the Future Energy Company and will include a headquarters for the company and a university. The surrounding land will contain wind and photovoltaic farms, research fields and plantations, so that the city will be entirely self-sustaining.
