Architect Nightingale Associates has won planning approval for a £90m scheme for Guildford College, completely overhauling its Stoke Park campus. At 28,000m2, it is one of the specialist education architect's biggest ever projects.
The development will include a series of so-called “pavilions in the park,” which will form academies, each designed with a separate architectural language. The scheme will have outdoor rooms and teaching spaces.
Christian Lawrence, director at Nightingale's Dartford office, said: “With this design, we have been able to integrate functionality with individuality by incorporating a number of interesting spaces in which learning can take place.
“The bold, contemporary theme of this building is key to ensuring a simple, clear organisational framework and reflects the college's mission, character and qualities.”
