House prices rose 11% year on year in January while Northern Ireland experienced a huge 42% rise in average house prices
The average price of a home jumped by 10.9% in the year to January, up from 9.9% in December. The increase brings means the average price of a home is now £205,286 according to DCLG.
Between December and January there was a substantial 2.1% rise in UK property prices, with the average property price increasing by about £4,000 in the month of January alone.
The region with the biggest year-on-year increase in house price growth between December and January was Northern Ireland, where annual house price inflation was 42.5%. Scotland experienced a growth in house prices from 15.2% to 15.9%, while in Wales the figure went from 9.1% to 10.2%
Strong growth in London saw annual house price inflation in England rise from 8.9% in December to 9.9% in January.
