Director of the Planning Inspectorate in Wales Peter Burley will take over in April 2012
The director of the Planning Inspectorate in Wales has been appointed the chief planning inspector for the entire organisation.
Peter Burley, who has worked for 22 years in the Planning Inspectorate, will take up his new role from April 2012 and will lead a single team of inspectors when the Planning Inspectorate integrates with the Infrastructure Planning Commission that month.
He will report to Sir Michael Pitt, chief executive of the Planning Inspectorate.
Pitt said: “Peter brings to this role significant professional knowledge, exceptional leadership skills and senior management experience. I am confident that Peter will lead and inspire our valued inspector workforce to continue to perform their roles to a high standard as the Inspectorate undergoes a number of organisational changes over the next few years”.
Burley said: “I see my key priority as ensuring that Inspectors are well equipped to meet the changing demands of the role while maintaining the highest standards of quality across the extensive range of casework they undertake. We need to embrace innovative and value for money ways of improving the service we provide which both addresses the needs of our customers and enhances the reputation of the Inspectorate”.
