Rail operator looking for a consultant to provide design services for ‘On Network’ part of the project
Network Rail has issued a tender for consultancy contract worth up to £60m on Crossrail 2.
According to an OJEU notice, the rail operator is looking for a consultant for design and consultancy services for the ‘On Network’ part of the project, which include areas where Crossrail 2 could link to the existing rail network.
Network Rail is looking for a consultant to assess the construction and environmental impacts of the route, and identify the scope of works to protect or divert utilities.
The consultant will also be tasked with identifying the land that needs to be acquired to build and operate Crossrail 2, and produce designs that allow Network Rail to develop cost, programme and risk forecasts for the project.
The consultant’s designs will also have to allow Network Rail to “effectively engage with stakeholders to garner support for the scheme”.
The OJEU notice states that “the procurement strategy for the detailed design has not been determined” as it depends on the delivery model and strategy for Crossrail 2, which will be established in late 2017.
The initial value of the contract, which will last for five years, is between £30m and £60m and has potential for up to another £50m for additional requirements in supporting pre-delivery activities.
