The founder of the Wembley contractor died last night after a long-term illness.
Multiplex founder and executive director John Roberts, 72, died last night following a long-term illness.
Company chairman, Allan McDonald, said. "John's legacy is an enormous one in the fields of property and construction. He was a man of great energy and vision and will be sorely missed."
Roberts set up Multiplex Constructions in 1962 and turned it into one of Australia's biggest builders.
Mulitplex is the contractor at Wembley stadium and is working on other large UK schemes including White City.
His contribution to the property industry was acknowledged by the Australian Constructors' Association in 1999 when he received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
In a statement Roberts' family said: "His passion and his deep understanding of people, property markets and Australian heritage will be greatly missed by all of us."
