Schüco’s range of AWS windows and ADS doors has been granted full certification under Secured by Design, the official police security initiative. The certification means
that the ranges comply fully to the Secured by Design “police preferred specification”.
John Porter Doors, specialist manufacturer of timber commercial doors, doorsets and associated joinery products, has been acquired by the Performance Timber Products Group. It will continue to operate from its Sunderland facility.
The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers is recommending that its members only specify anti-ligature hardware on doors in prisons, secure units, mental health hospitals, schools and other public buildings that has been tested to DHF TS 001, the Door and Hardware Federation’s technical standard. The standard outlines requirements and test methods for such devices.
The Wood Window Alliance has produced a film for architects and specifiers with advice on wood windows. Entitled Wood Windows CO2t Less the film is available now to view online (www.woodwindowalliance.com) and includes service life research by Imperial College, London.
