Project is part of US government backed educational programme
Mott MacDonald is to design and supervise construction on eight skills centres in Namibia for a US government backed education project.
The Community Skills Development Centres will be used to help teach young Namibians as part of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, a US backed development agency.
Mott MacDonald will also assess the social and environmental impact of the centres, which are expected to be complete in late 2012.
Mott MacDonald’s project director Greig Hamilton said, “These centres will help to provide a high quality learning environment for disadvantaged individuals throughout Namibia. We will specify materials that can be sourced locally in Namibia for use in the design and construction of the centres.”
“Mott MacDonald is delighted to be involved in this important project, which will help support Namibia’s Education and Training Sector Improvement Programme’s long-term aims, which include increasing the overall competency of the Namibian workforce,” Greig added.
