Consultant wins detailed design job on luxury ’city within a city’
Mott MacDonald has been appointed as detailed design engineers for the first phase of the £3.86bn Dubai Pearl development.
It will act as consultant for all mechanical, electrical, public health, fire, communications and security systems, as well as working towards a LEED Gold environmental certification.
The Dubai Pearl is designed to be a pedestrian friendly self-contained city, set over four towers each with more than 70 floors, and will feature homes for over 9,000 people, a workplace for 12,000. It will contain 20m2 ft of office, apartment, hotel and shopping space.
It is being developed for a Pearl Dubai FZ LLC, a company owned by a consortium of investors led by the Al Fahim Group of Abu Dhabi.
Lars Caneborg, Mott MacDonald’s project director said: “The core theme running through the project is work, play, stay and live, which will help shape a unique 24-hour environment where the feeling of community is as important as the world class amenities and luxury lifestyle.”
