Civils arm Morgan Est has formed joint venture with Vinci and Bachy Soletanche for Lee tunnel in London
Morgan Sindall has confirmed its £400m joint venture with Vinci and Bachy Soletanche for the Lee tunnel in London has been signed.
Its civils arm Morgan Est has a 50% interest in the JV, while Vinci has 30% and Bachy Soletanche holds the remaining 20%. The client is Thames Water.
The five-year project involves the construction of a 7m internal diameter storage transfer tunnel, which is about 6,900m long, from Abbey Mills pumping station to Beckton sewage treatment works.
Works include the construction of two, 25m internal diameter shafts and one 20m shaft (two at Beckton and one at Abbey Mills) and a 38m diameter off-line Tideway pumping station shaft.
Paul Smith, chief executive at Morgan Sindall, said: “This is an excellent win for our infrastructure services division and builds on our relationship with Thames Water. The appointment underlines the strength and expertise which Morgan Est has in tunneling, an area where we have a market leading position.”
