Deal on PPP scheme with Basildon council reaches financial close
Morgan Sindall has sealed the deal on a £38m sports development in Essex.
The firm said its PPP scheme to build an energy-efficient sporting hub for Basildon Council had reached financial close.
The 25-year project, called Basildon Sporting Village, is the largest sports development in the Thames Gateway regeneration scheme. Planned facilities include a 450-capacity swimming venue, an eight-court sports hall, a gymnastics centre and a climbing wall.
A Morgan Sindall subsidiary, Community Solutions for Leisure, is leading the scheme. Construction work will be carried out by Morgan Ashurst and civil and structural engineering by Morgan Professional Services.
The scheme is scheduled to start on site next month and complete in the spring of 2011.
Morgan Sindall chief executive Paul Smith said: “We are delighted to be the chosen partner to work with Basildon Council on this exciting project.”
