Craven council selects contractor's housing division, Lovell, as preferred partner on 220-home Skipton project
Morgan Sindall has sealed the deal on a £35m regeneration scheme in North Yorkshire. Craven District Council has confirmed that the contractor’s affordable housing division, Lovell, together with Maple Grove Developments is preferred partner on the mixed-use Skipton project.
The scheme will see the construction of 220 homes - 88 for affordable rent and low-cost home ownership and 132 homes for open market sale – plus shops. Lovell is responsible for the housing element of the project, which is valued at £28m, while Maple Grove will deliver the retail development. Construction is expected to start in spring 2010 and complete by 2015.
Morgan Sindall chief executive, Paul Smith, said: “We look forward to working with Craven District Council to deliver this key mixed tenure development for Skipton.
“Demand for the provision of new affordable homes throughout the UK remains healthy. There is still a significant undersupply and the sector continues to be a priority for the government. “
