Morgan Sindall has decided to re-open its precast factory in Kent after landing an £8m order to provide concrete tunnel rings for the Northern Line extension in London.
The factory in Ridham will be back in operation from July following the order from the Ferrovial Agroman and Laing O’Rourke’s joint venture building the tunnels to Battersea.
The order comprises 3,280 concrete tunnel rings to line 2.4km’s of twin tunnels .
Morgan Sindall’s senior operations manager at the Ridham facility David Hicks said: “It’s great to be remobilising the facility and recreating opportunities for the local community. We’re currently re-commissioning the factory, getting it ready for production ahead of the start-up date in July. We’re pleased that our capabilities here will help with the completion of key infrastructure upgrades in London”.
The Kent-based facility previously produced ring segments for the 7.8km Lee Tunnel project in London.
