Contractor will build a food court and 100-bedroom hotel at site near Leeds
Morgan Sindall has signed a deal to construct the main buildings for a new £60m motorway service station on the M1 in West Yorkshire.
The contractor will build a food court, a 100-bedroom hotel, parking areas and onsite roadways for Extra MSA Group at junction 45 of the motorway near Leeds.
The central building design at Skelton Services will feature exposed long span glulam – glue laminated – timber beams and the structure will be topped off with an undulating sedum roof to blend in with the neighbouring landscape.
Work on the construction phase is due to start this autumn and be finished in time for a spring 2019 opening.
Building work will support around 400 jobs, while approximately 300 new full-time jobs will be created when the services is operational.
