Building to meet both Passivhaus and BREEAM Outstanding standards
Morgan Sindall has been given the green light to build what promises to be the UK’s greenest commercial building.
The University of East Anglia’s new £8m Enterprise Centre has been designed by architect Architype and it set to meet both Passivhaus and BREEAM Outstanding green standards. The University says this will be the first time a UK building has met both standards.
The scheme received planning approval from Norwich council last week.
The University has said it will also “set new standards” for embodied energy and use of materials from renewable sources.
Stuart Thompson, design manager at Morgan Sindall, speaking in a promotional video for the project, said the project was “truly exciting”.
He added: “We’re not doing anything that we would normally do, the whole point of this project is do [things] different[ly] and this is one building where we can do all of that in one space.”
BDP Engineers and Churchman Landscape Architects are also working on the project.
