Contractor to deliver the Wohl Neuroscience Institute for King’s College London
Morgan Sindall has sealed a £26m deal to build a neuroscience research facility for King’s College London in South East London.
The five storey biomedical development will accommodate the Wohl Neuroscience Institute which is expected to cost £45m once fully fitted out.
The 8,400 sq m concrete frame facility at the college’s Denmark Hill campus will house research laboratories, offices and a 100-seat flexible seminar space.
Ground source heating and natural ventilation with active chilled beams are being used to reduce energy demand and the building is aiming to achieve an Excellent BREEAM rating.
The facility is being funded by the Higher Education Funding Council England, Science Research Investment Fund and private donations and is due to complete in July 2012.
