Contractor to build two student halls and a catering facility, as well as refurbishing university offices
Morgan Ashurst has won a £49.3m contract to build new student halls of residence at the University of Reading.
The construction firm will build two new halls, comprising 965 study-bedrooms and two warden flats, with each building split over four to six storeys.
It will also construct a new catering building and a student launderette and will refurbish the ground floor of a building to form new offices as part of the scheme.
The contractor is one of the university's construction partners in a four-year building refurbishment and redevelopment programme. The project is being delivered under a framework agreement worth around £200m.
Work on the campus is due to be complete by September 2010.
