The number of former Carillion workers who have been found new jobs has topped the 11,000-mark, according to the Official Receiver.

In an update the receiver for the collapsed contractor announced a further 133 jobs had been saved with workers going to companies who had taken over some of its contracts, taking the total number of roles saved to date to 11,093.

The receiver also said a further 59 employees had been let go after their roles became redundant, taking the number of jobs to go to the wall to 2,221.

The receiver said: “I continue to liaise with potential purchasers for Carillion’s remaining contracts and remain committed to keeping staff, elected employee representatives and unions informed as these arrangements are confirmed.”

More than 3,700 employees are still being retained to deliver the remaining services Carillion was contracted to provide for both public and private sector customers until decisions are taken to transfer or cease them.
