Mitie to deliver £40m home improvements in Lewisham

Outsourcing company Mitie has won a £40m contract to deliver home improvement works to over 13,000 social housing tenants in Lewisham.

The contract was awarded by housing services provider Lewisham Homes.

The five year major works programme includes kitchen and bathroom improvements, boiler and system replacements and upgrades for disabled access.

As part of the deal Mitie agreed to take on five apprentices from Lewisham and invest in targeted back-to-work programmes in the area.

The Homes and Communities Agency has provisionally allocated £96m to Lewisham Homes for the programme, with £25.5m confirmed for the first two years.  

Bill Robson, managing director of MITIE’s property management business, said: “We are delighted to be working with Lewisham Homes to carry out extensive improvements and maintenance.

“MITIE’s work in Lewisham extends beyond Lewisham council homes, as we embark on this sizeable piece of work we welcome members of the Lewisham community to join our cadre of over 300 apprentices at MITIE.”
