Energy resourcing plan near Brighton could generate power for the whole local area
Outsourcing and energy specialist Mitie is to develop 52ha of land owned by Shoreham Port near Brighton into a green energy generating asset.
The firm is considering installing solar and wind generation at the site, owned by Shoreham Port Authority, which will generate electricity for the surrounding area.
Mike Tivey, managing director of Mitie’s asset management arm, said: “This is a really progressive and engaging development which will stimulate investment into Shoreham Port. Community and economic benefits will be at the heart of our considerations when coming up with a low carbon and sustainable energy future for Shoreham Port.”
The work forms part of a port masterplan which is forecast to stimulate growth of 25% in the area over the next 15 years.
