Acquisitions help outsourcing firm boost revenue and turnover
Outsourcing specialist Mitie has reported a strong increase in turnover taking profits to £93m for the year ended 31 March 2010.
In preliminary results it said revenue grew 13% to £1.72bn while operating profit before other items was up 15.5% to £93m.
The order book grew by 30.6% during the year, and now stands at a record £6.4bn compared to £4.9bn in 2009.
The firm reported a good performance from its facilities management division and a significant contribution from acquisitions made during the year.
These included Dalkia FM and EPS which Mitie said boosted Mitie’s offerings in the energy sector, enabling the launch of CarbonCare.
Ruby McGregor-Smith, chief executive of Mitie, said, "Mitie has made excellent progress in the past financial year, creating a step-change in its capabilities with two strategic acquisitions”.
He went on to say that the group has a growing long-term order book and an unprecedented level of bid opportunities and that it has experienced an extremely positive start to the new financial year with new contract awards.
