Firm will build specialist centres for Avon and Somerset Constabulary
Miller Construction has been appointed main contractor on a £102m PFI project for Avon and Somerset Constabulary.
The deal, reached between the force and the Blue Light Partnership – an investment joint venture between Bilfinger Berger Project Investments and Miller – has now reached financial close.
It will see the construction of a Somerset operations base for the force at Express Park in Bridgwater; a police station with custody facilities at Patchway; a custody and crime-investigation centre at Keynsham; and a firearms training centre at Black Rock Quarry, Portishead.
Miller Construction executive director Chris Webster said the win further demonstrated the firm’s “integrated approach” of providing both investment and construction services.
“The current financial market has meant that financial close has been challenging, however, by working innovatively with our client, our partners and our funders’, solutions have been provided to ensure a successful close,” he said.
“We are now focussing on the delivery of these schemes that will make a positive impact on how police services will be delivered across the area.”
