Sixteen new schools will be built by Miller-led consortium for Leicestershire City Council
The £325m Leicester Building Schools for the Future scheme has reached financial close.
The Miller Consortium is leading the scheme in collaboration with Leicester City Council and Partnership for Schools. Work will start immediately on the six-year project, which will see the construction of 16 new schools in the Leicester area.
In a first phase four schools will be built, among which a 13,265sq m college in Soar Valley, accommodating 1,275 pupils. The Miller Consortium, consisting of Miller Construction, GSL and Northgate, will also remodel and extend Fullhurst Community College and Judgemeadow Community College.
Construction on the first four schools will end in 2009, before the remaining colleges will be built in three following phases.
Robin Scowcroft, spokesperson for Miller Consortium, said: “We look forward to delivering the construction, information and communications technology, maintenance and facilities management for these schools.”
