Contractor forms partnership with developer Pendleridge for scheme based around budget hotel
McLaren Construction has won its first contract with budget hotel operator Travelodge.
The project, based in Buckinghamshire, has been on hold since 2008 as a result of the downturn. Planning permission for the scheme was granted last month and construction is due to begin in January.
Developer Pendleridge, which said it believed the market was now turning, has formed a partnership with McLaren to develop the site following an extended procurement process.
Travelodge will be the anchor tenant for the development, which also includes ground floor retail units alongside the 120-room hotel with restaurant and bar.
The project is due for completion in November 2010 and will be the first stage in the redevelopment of Octagon Court in High Wycombe, which is hoped will help transform the town centre.
McLaren chairman Kevin Taylor said: “The hotel market has withstood the recession better than most and this job fits perfectly with our long-term strategy of expanding into growing sectors.”
