Exclusive: McLaren edges ahead of three other firms in bid to build Old Trafford Supporters Club hotel
Contractor McLaren is set to be picked to build former Manchester United star Gary Neville’s new ten-storey hotel next to Old Trafford Stadium.
Building understands the contractor has edged ahead of three other firms bidding for the job, including Bam Construct, Galliford Try and Bowmer & Kirkland.
The AEW Architects-designed scheme includes a five-a-side football pitch on top of a138-bed hotel.
According to construction database Barbour/ABI, the contract is worth £12m.
Neville is developing the scheme in joint venture with the Old Trafford Supporters Club.
Construction work is expected to be underway this Spring, with the hotel scheduled to open in Spring 2014.
