New arrival to join firm’s major projects business
McLaren has poached a Sir Robert McAlpine business development manager to join its major projects division as business development director.
Matt Sheridan worked for McAlpine for seven years and before that was with Balfour Beatty for more than nine years.
McLaren has been picked up a several McAlpine staff since former London boss Paul Heather was joined as the firm’s group managing director last spring.
James Eaton joined last summer, having been head of digital and data at McAlpine and was brought in by Heather initially as a consultant.
And Tracie Rolleston-Judd, a senior HR business partner, arrived last spring to head up its talent management, inclusion and diversity team.
John Butten, managing director of McLaren’s major projects division and a former colleague of Sheridan at Balfour Beatty, said: “Matt has the top tier experience to understand McLaren’s trajectory and the calibre of projects we are taking on.
“He will help us continue the growth of the business and develop its reputation in the market with customers, consultants and the supply chain.”
Sheridan said McLaren was already disrupting the tier 1 establishment with its contract awards”.
Among the jobs it has recently won are a £200m deal to extend the ExCeL exhibition venue in London’s Docklands, work to turn the former Top Shop flagship on London’s Oxford Street into an Ikea while it is favourite to revamp a 1960s block in London’s Victoria called Portland House for Landsec.
