Scheme OK’d after being refused last autumn
Retirement housebuilder McCarthy & Stone has been given the green light for a scheme near Milton Keynes after an appeal to the planning inspectorate by the firm.
McCarthy & Stone and developer Angle Property challenged last November’s decision to refuse the scheme planning after Milton Keynes council said it would result in a loss of “employment opportunities”.
The site was designated as being for retail use in the Olney Neighbourhood Plan, which was approved in a town-wide referendum in July 2017.
The £21.6m development of 58 dwellings for the over 70s in Olney, will also include an open-plan bistro, shared lounge, function room, wellness suite and guest suite.
The scheme will also include 10 bungalows built to McCarthy & Stone’s Retirement Living specification aimed at the more active older homeowner.
Construction is set to start in early 2021.
