Consultant sign contract for £14m mixed-used scheme in Camden
McBains Cooper has signed a contract with Londonewcastle for a £14m mixed-use development in Camden Town. The consultant will provide cost and project management and due diligence services for the scheme.
Located on Grand Union Canal at the former home of Jim Henson's Muppet creations in north London, the facade on the five-storey building will be retained. The development will comprise two and three bedroom New York style apartments and possibly some penthouses.
McBains director Alan Muse said: “We are very excited to be part of this scheme and believe the warehouse-style apartments will provide a unique living environment in one of London 's most trendy and convenient locations.”
The scheme includes 52 private residential units and 24 affordable homes available through London-based Community Housing Group. There will be expansive office space on the ground floor and basement areas.
The development will feature a proposed closed loop geothermal heating system as well as a biomassboiler.
Tate & Hindle is the architect with original design provided by Richard O’Hara Architects.
The project is due to start on site imminently.
