Etihad's new lounge at Heathrow's Terminal 4 will form part of refurbishment plan
Consultant McBains Cooper has secured a deal to work on a new lounge for Abu Dhabi's state airline at Heathrow's Terminal 4.
The firm said it had been appointed project manager for the new Etihad Airways' lounge as part of the refurbishment of the terminal.
The 6,500 ft² scheme, which will be a waiting room for business and first class passengers, will include a spa, restaurant, shower rooms and VIP area. Construction is expected to start this month and complete in July 2009.
Terminal 4's refurbishment is part of the airport's 10-year, £6.2bn investment programme, which includes the reconstruction of terminals one and two.
McBains Cooper associate director Lindsay Melrose said: “Despite a dip in passenger numbers during the downturn, new routes and thus growth are still developing which is evident from the investment currently being made to the airport infrastructure across the country.
“The high demand for air travel will return as soon as the economy starts to improve. Airlines need to plan for the upturn now.”
