Architect Gort Scott behind £12m scheme
Sir Robert McAlpine has broken ground on the latest office project at Stanhope’s White City project.
The developer, along with joint venture partners Mitsui Fudosan and Alberta Investment Management Corporation, said McAlpine has started work as construction manager on the £12m Gateway West building at White City Place.
The four-storey brick and ceramic building will provide 25,000 sq ft of office space and is due to be completed next July.
The project has been designed by Gort Scott, while Deloitte is the QS, Sweco the M&E consultant and AKT II is carrying out structural engineering.
Gateway West is the latest addition to the White City Place development following the start of construction last October of the £100m, 260,000 sq ft Gateway Central building, part let as French cosmetics firm L’Oreal’s new headquarters, which is due to complete by the end of 2022. McAlpine is building this scheme as well.
It also Laing O’Rourke’s recent start of construction of the new 1 Wood Crescent building at Television Centre, part let to US fashion brands Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger and their parent company PVH Corp.
White City Place currently has more than 1 million sq ft of office, laboratory and retail accommodation, with the three new Gateway buildings will provide a further 800,000 sq ft of space.
