Bennetts-designed scheme features winter garden
Sir Robert McAlpine has completed work on a new office building in the heart of the City of London’s insurance district.
The Grade A scheme at Mark Lane, near Fenchurch Street station, has been developed by Japanese property company Mitsui Fudosan with Stanhope.
The Bennetts Associates-designed building offers 170,000ft2 of office space over 15 floors, with floor plates ranging from 14,000ft2 to 5,000ft2, and four retail units on the ground floor. The top six floors levels include space for a 10,000ft2 winter garden terrace space.
Sir Robert McAlpine was construction manager on the development, Davies Maguire + Whitby structural engineer, Grontmij service engineer and McGee demolition contractor.
Construction work on the project, which has achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, began in October 2012.
Insurer Zurich is due to move in next March having taken six floors, with insurance broker Miller having already signed up for the bottom half dozen levels.
