The firm has been involved in a number of masterplans, the most significant of which are King’s Cross Central, a 25ha quarter in central London, and the Olympic Park in the Lower Lea Valley with Edaw. Other major projects are at Cricklewood, Hemel Hempstead, East Grinstead, Winchester and Oxford Westgate.
The judges felt Allies & Morrison “placed a real emphasis on public space”. It believes that buildings should form the backdrop to street and public spaces, and it is this approach that allows it to tackle complex sites with real conviction. The shortlisted entries for this category are;
