Willmott Dixon and Styles and Wood also fined after public ‘put at risk’
High street retailer Marks and Spencer has been fined £1m for exposing the public, staff and constructionworkers to asbestos.
Contractors Styles and Wood and Willmott Dixon were also hit with fines of £100,000 and £50,000 respectively.
Asbestos specialist PA Realisations (formerly Pectel Ltd) is now in administration and was fined a token £200.
The sentence at Bournemouth Crown Court relates to failings by Marks and Spencer and its contractors to ensure safe removal of asbestos during the refurbishment of two stores in Reading and Bournemouth.
