Manchester's 'vertical village' goes in for planning

Developer Allied London has submitted its Trinity Islands ‘vertical village’ scheme in for planning.

The Child Graddon Lewis-designed (CGL) scheme comprises 1,400 homes across five inter-linked towers rising to 66 storeys in height.

It forms part of Allied London’s wider St John’s development, which includes the redevelopment of ITV’s former Granada studios. Deloitte is planning consultant.

Subject to winning detailed planning approval, construction could start later this year.

Allied London and CGL have previously worked together on residential scheme Leeds Dock.

James Sidlow, project director at Allied London, said: “Trinity Islands appeals to a wide variety of people with its excellent onsite amenity and community-lead retail offering, as well as its sky gardens and lounges that allow residents to relax and unwind.

“One of the tallest residential schemes in Western Europe, residents will enjoy some of Manchester’s most scenic views.”
