HSE investigating accident on Kirkby Industrial Estate

A man has died and a second is in critical condition after a crane accident in Merseyside.

Emergency services were called to the Kirkby Industrial Estate after the accident. Full details have not yet emerged, but witnesses claim something fell from the crane.

Police have cordoned off the area around Charley Wood Road and are interviewing witnesses. The HSE is also investigating the incident.

The accident comes after two recent fatal crane collapses in Liverpool and Battersea, which have prompted the launch of Building’s Safer Skyline campaign for improvements to crane safety.
