Contract will be worth £5m and run until mid-2013
Built asset consultancy EC Harris has been appointed by Magnox Ltd to support its work decommissioning Britain’s first generation of nuclear power stations.
EC Harris will provide commercial management and consultancy services for the project, which began last month. The contract will run until the middle of 2013, and will be worth about £5m.
Paul Stapleton, head of energy and manufacturing at EC Harris, said: “We are delighted to be working with Magnox on what will be one of the most significant programmes of work carried out within the nuclear sector over the coming years. This win helps to further cement EC Harris’ position as the leading commercial delivery partner within the nuclear arena”.
Magnox operates 10 nuclear licensed sites, which are owned by the government’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. Among them is Oldbury, the world’s oldest operating nuclear power station.
