Contract comprises diversions, removals and new connections for Network Rail's upgraded station

Mace Group has scooped a contract to manage all utility diversions for Blackfriars station, one of the stations being upgraded as part of Network Rail’s Thameslink programme.

The project comprises diversions, removals and new connections for electricity, gas, water and telecommunications. The total cost of the work that Mace is doing for Network Rail at Blackfriars, Farringdon and Borough stations is £350m.

Andy Sharples, project director, said he could save clients money through his team's relationships with local utility companies and its knowledge of the process. Previously, Mace has negotiated discounts and avoided large down-payments that can be missed by contracting companies
