Deputy mayors agree to collaborate on sustainable best practice in city planning
Talks have begun between the deputy mayors of London and Stockholm to exchange expertise on combatting climate change.
Deputy London mayor Nicky Gavron today agreed with vice mayor Ulla Hamilton to share best practice on sustainable city planning.
Despite there being no programme yet in place, both officials were optimistic about the initiative. Gavron said: “Stockholm is one of the world’s leading cities on creating low carbon, urban environmental infrastructure for the 21st century."
"I have seen for myself what they have achieved in their pioneering sustainable neighbourhood of Hammarby. London and Stockholm can learn a lot from each other.”
Hamilton said Sweden will also benefit “We need to seize all the opportunities we can to work together and share our expertise.”
