Scheme to last an initial five years
Greenwich council has unveiled details of a £300m new build housing contract using Modern Methods of Construction.
The first of 750 homes are being supplied by Liverpool firm Ideal Modular Homes having being drawn up by architect Shed KM. Southwark firm A&E Elkins will begin assembling the homes this autumn.
The homes, which can be manufactured in four days and installed on site in eight hours, are planned for 60 sites across the south-east Londonborough.
The council said the deal will run for five years with the option to extend by a further five.
The first tenants are due to move in later this year.
