US-based electrical firm plans to manufacture in UAE by 2012
US electrical hardware firm Leviton has opened a regional office in Dubai and is looking at manufacturing products there by 2012.
The New York-based firm, which has a turnover of $2bn, makes and supplies electrical wiring equipment to the building trade, as well as products such as switches and light sockets.
Leviton has appointed Ramzi Nassif to head its operations in Dubai which will be based in the Jebel Ali district.
The firm's vice-president of its international business Bruno Filio said: “We are potentially looking at manufacturing in the region in four or five years' time.” The firm is expected to concentrate on the residential and commercial sectors across the UAE.
