The contractor is to refurbish three buildings for commercial office space at the former BBC Media Village
Lendlease has been appointed as construction manager for the refurbishment of three buildings at White City Place – the former BBC Media Village in west London.
The combined contract value is worth £80m and Lendlease said further works are currently being finalised for £7m of landscaping.
The buildings to be refurbished are WestWorks, Mediaworks, and Garden House, which will provide 600,000 sq ft of commercial office space for rent. The project is expected to complete in the third quarter of 2017.
Lendlease has already provided developers Stanhope, Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo with advice on buildability and logistics at the scheme.
The firm said it is already working with 95 subcontractors and expects this number to rise to 550 as the work, which includes the substantial structural alteration, glass replacement and façade restoration, to progress.
White City Place sits on 17 acres of land adjacent to the Imperial College campus, close to White City and Wood Lane tube stations.
Plans for the area include the construction of up to 2,500 homes, over two million sq ft of offices, retail and a hub for academia, innovation and start-ups.
