Firm to redevelop huge site in Hammersmith
Lend Lease is set to start work on the £75m redevelopment of a 1980s west London scheme for Legal & General Property.
The firm will demolish Bechtel House, in Hammersmith Road, and replace it with a 350,000 sq feet scheme centred around a 10-storey Shepherd Robson designed office block.
Included in the development will be outdoor roof terraces, a new landscaped public plaza leading to a podium garden, and ground-floor retail space.
Lend Lease project director Dennis Wilson said the contract built on its track record at Central St Giles and Legal & General’s One Coleman Street headquarters in the City of London.
“This latest success capitalises on our strategy of winning repeat work from longstanding clients, and adds to our growing pipeline – having secured several major opportunities over the last few months,” he said.
Simon Wilkes, head of business space development at Legal & General Property said Lend Lease’s appointment “reflects the team’s understanding of our needs”.
Lend Lease said work would start on the project this month.
