Now that Beijing’s airports and sports stadiums are under way in time for the 2008 Olympics, China is turning its attention to railway stations. This giant silvery stingray, conceived by Weston Williamson Architects and the Beijing Second Railway Services & Design, is one contender for the £250m Beijing South station, reputedly the largest in China. The two other shortlisted competitors are Terry Farrell & Partners of London and AREP of France.
