Mixed-use scheme on New Fetter Lane, central London, designed by Bennetts Associates, receives the approval of the developer's board.

Developer Land Securities has announced that it is to go ahead with the final building at New Street Square after receiving approval from its board.

The building is part of the 730,000 ft2 mixed-use scheme on New Fetter Lane, central London, designed by Bennetts Associates. The building will provide 235,000 ft2 of offices and is scheduled for completion in spring 2008.

Mike Hussey, Land Securities managing director for its London portfolio, said: "The New Street Square development will breathe new life into this commercial district and should provide a strong draw to corporate and professional service occupiers considering relocation and seeking a high quality environment."

The New Street Square development replaces an assortment of post-war office blocks with four contemporary office buildings, all of which open onto a landscaped central square lined by shops and cafes.

Land Securities has also announced that it has exchanged contracts with engineering contractor CB&I for a single property outsourcing contract at 40 Eastbourne Terrace, Paddington.
