Ainscough snaps up part of contractor’s Select fleet division
Laing O’Rourke has agreed a deal to sell its mobile cranes division to Ainscough.
In a statement the contractor said it had reviewed its plant division Select and decided to sell-off its mobile fleet. Laing O’Rourke said it will continue to invest in other parts of Select.
A Laing O’Rourke spokesperson added: “As part of the group’s best practice we are continuously looking at improvements that we can make in the efficiency and productivity of our operations.
“Having assessed our mobile crane assets, we believe that the operational support of an external partner in this area will strengthen our offer.
“We have agreed to sell our mobile fleet to Ainscough Crane Hire, who currently meet 75% of our mobile crane requirements, and we will continue to work with them on an ongoing basis.”
In January this year Laing O’Rourke announced its intention to sell its £1.5bn-turnover Australian arm, although a sale has not yet materialised.
