Contractor teams up with O'Donnell Griffin to upgrade rail infrastructure in Victoria, Australia
Laing O'Rourke, in a joint venture with Australian infrastructure firm O'Donnell Griffin, has been awarded an A$270m (£154m) contract to upgrade the rail infrastructure in Victoria, Australia.
The Sunbury Rail Electrification project, which has been designed to help Victoria’s transport system cope with a surge in passengers due to an expected population boom in Melbourne’s outskirts, is set to start work in early 2010.
Rob Boulger, Laing O’Rourke’s general manager for rail, said: “Laing O'Rourke is the leading rail electrification company in Australia, and this win further enhances the range of projects and services which we can deliver."
