Construction began on the high-end scheme in 2014
Laing O’Rourke has completed British Land’s luxury Mayfair scheme, Clarges.
The firm won the £160m contract in 2013 to demolish and replace the existing 1960s block, which was once the site of MI5’s office facilities, located down the road from the Ritz Hotel, as well as construct and fit out the four buildings it was replaced with.
Construction on the replacement four buildings, which included a new headquarters for the Kennal Club, 33 super prime apartments, affordable housing, 47,800ft2 of office space and a spa, began in 2014.
The contractor implemented the first use of offsite manufactured three-beam concrete megaplanks on the scheme.
Steve Cork, project director at Laing O’Rourke, said: “It’s been an extremely complex design, but with a very high quality fit out.”
