Judge rules Rockwool’s marketing campaign was misleading
Insulation firm Kingspan has won a High Court battle against rival Rockwool over misleading claims made about its products’ fire safety. Mr Justice Kitchin found marketing roadshows and DVDs used by Rockwool, questioning the fire resistance of its rival’s products, were misleading and breached Kingspan’s trademarks.
However, the court rejected a further claim of malicious falsehood made against Rockwool.
A spokesperson for Kingspan said: “We are very pleased that the High Court has held that Rockwool’s marketing campaign was misleading.”
A spokesman for Rockwool said: “We will ensure that future advertising reflects the findings in this case.”
Mr Justice Kitchin will make an order as to any damages Kingspan may be entitled to at a later date.
