Balfour Beatty comes a close second on the chart including civils, winning contracts worth £294m
October was a good month for Kier, with wins including civils work totalling nearly £300m, sending it to the top of the two contractors’ tables.
Balfour Beatty is just short of Kier on the table including civils with 49 contracts worth £294m for the last month.
A haul of 16 wins has taken Wates to the third spot including civils, and has also enabled the contractor to claim second spot on the table excluding civils. Wates’ contract wins include a £16m deal to refurbish Dunstable leisure centre.
McLaren Construction is on the next rung with two contract wins totalling just over £150m, followed by Interserve, then regeneration specialist Keepmoat, which has bagged four contracts, including a £50m contract to build 194 homes for Gibfield Park Group in Manchester.
Metropolitan Housing Trust has helped Higgins Group claim sixth spot excluding civils, having awarded the firm two contracts worth over £80m to build 226 homes plus a nursery and some commercial across two sites in London.
Towards the lower end of the tables sits Robertson Group, with two contract wins worth just over £100m, and housebuilder Galliford Try, which has bagged a £22m contract to build the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine for developer St Modwen at Longbridge in Birmingham and is to build Wixams Retirement Village in Bedford for £44m on behalf of the ExtraCare Charitable Trust.
Bowmer & Kirkland, which has picked up a new £23m school build in Harrow, north-west London for the Education Funding Agency, rounds out the table including civils. Bowmer & Kirkland also has ninth spot excluding civils, with Willmott Dixon in 10th spot thanks to 19 wins totalling £46m for October.
