University of Newcastle pick Kier's northern division for £9m project
Kier’s northern division has been appointed by Newcastle University to refurbish the Hancock Museum in the city centre.
The £9m project includes an extension to the Grade II listed building, creating a total of 5500 sq m of display area for the museum’s collections.
The 13th-month project is scheduled for completion in May 2008 and is part of the Great North Museum Project which will combine the Hancock Collections with those of the University’s Museum of Antiquities and Shefton Museum in the refurbished Hancock building.
Kier Plant is also providing site accommodation and Kier Engineering Services is designing temporary works.
